「今日美國報」（USA Today）報導，41歲的A-Rod（Alex Rodriguez）與洋基簽有10年2億7500萬美元合約，原本2017年到期，但他今年表現是職業生涯最糟，只打出9支全壘打，打擊率0.204，只好提早退休。
他1994年投效西雅圖水手隊，展開在大聯盟的生涯，至今共擊出696支全壘打。
A-Rod在洋基球場舉行的記者會感傷表示：「這是很難過的一天。我愛棒球比賽，也愛這支球隊。說再見是這份工作最艱難的部分。」
這位巨砲戰績輝煌，曾締造棒球史上一些最佳成績，但也因使用增強體能的藥物使聲譽受損。他因使用禁藥遭禁賽，錯過整個2014年球季。
洋基發布聲明說，球隊無條件釋出A-Rod，將另外與他簽約，讓他擔任特別顧問和指導員，直到2017年12月31日。1050807
